Hi Friends! I get the sweetest messages about the wood floors in my house. They are in good condition considering they are original to the house and almost 90 years old. However, I can’t take much credit for it. I just try to maintain its beauty and character even with the few imperfections.

Here’s my Homemade floor cleaning recipe.
Homemade wood floor cleaner
Fill a bucket a quarter full or you can use a spray bottle. I prefer a bucket because I use a mop.
A couple drops of soap
Castile or Dawn
Quite a few drops of your favorite essential oils.
I use lemon and orange
Or lemon grass and grapefruit
I also add a splash of olive oil to help with some new scratches. It works for me✨🍊🍋
Tip* DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT use vinegar on your wood floors. It’ll eat up the surface. I’ve seen some homemade wood floor cleaners using vinegar and my eyes almost fell out of my head. It may be fine for laminate but NOT real wood! Trust me- I’m your friend and It’d make me sad to know your floors were destroyed by vinegar. 💜

I usually sweep and vacuum. As well, as mop and then a drying cloth mop afterwards because I don’t want water sitting. Even though I do ring out the mop as best as I can- I just don’t want to take that chance.

I love a freshly cleaned floor! It makes my heart so happy! 💜
Happy Almost Spring Cleaning!
